Being self-employed in Germany I have to agree to Levels here. Bureaucracy is a nightmare and many people that have the potential to start their own business are scared because of it, taxes, high costs etc. Hearing the same from other EU countries. Hustle culture is much more real in the US, SEA and so on

The US also rewards people who strive for more, it is baked into the culture. I know in the UK because people give up on their dreams before they even leave the starting block they try to pull down those who are over the first hurdle. Saying this as someone who has sold more work to the US than the UK
