A sign of true culture
A couple decades ago, my wife and I spent a few weeks driving around the upper 2/3 of Italy
It was one of the best trips we've ever taken, for the views, the art and the food, among other things
We visited Rome, Florence, Pisa, Genoa, Milan, Verona, Venice, Ravenna, Riminia, Ancona, Pescara, Foggia Pompei, Naples, and back to Rome again, with other smaller stops along the way (in my mid-40s now, I'm glad we did that then and not now, it was a lot)
A few of the highlights:
Amalfi was breathtaking, and the limoncello was superb
The seaside and countryside between Ravenna and Pescara was fantastic, and we had the best hot chocolate of our lives in Ancona
The coastline between Pisa and Genoa was lovely, and we were sad we couldn't fit Cinque Terre into our trip
And we spent the better part of a week walking almost everywhere in Rome worth visiting 1 reply
