Following @adrienne's example, I'll introduce myself to the channel! Before I was a designer, I was a comic book artist. There's actually a comic book school in Rome (which is where I'm from), and I attended when I was 13yo (This is a recent drawing, I wasn't so good back then) https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0xa5a69e

As a designer, I am largely self-taught Only formal education I had was a 72-hour course from quasarinstitute.it/en on Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark XPress (remember that?) which however short was really well made. I learned most of what I know in that course This was a while back too, probably 2004

Here's one from the archives: in 2007 someone from Mushroom Magazine, a German psytrance (šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø) music mag, found that illustration on DeviantArt (remember that?) and asked me to put it on the cover I was 16! It was cool PS incredibly, it's still up: https://issuu.com/mushroommagazine/docs/mushroom-2007-05

That was it for a while, because at 18 I moved to London and did a bit of everything: played poker professionally, worked as assistant chef, door-to-door salesman, menswear assistant... I also founded a CPG startup to make a sort of ginger short and raised $500k for that, but it didn't go anywhere (CPG are HARD )

The startup crash hit me hard and I struggled for a while Then when COVID hit, I decided to get back in design. I wanted to take stock of what I knew, which turned into a 96-page design ebook (yeah that escalated quickly) https://gan.gg/antimofm.eth/designer

Unfortunately, my resume didn't match my skill and finding a job in design turned out to be a fool's errand. Got to interview for a couple junior roles, but I was passed because I was overqualified and I had no degree

Out of the blue, got a chance to work on a web3 project (a very ambitious PFP collection on the BSC which didn't exactly mint out), which is also where I met @andreaboi.eth & @0xconca.eth

NFTs looked like fun, so I experimented with a small Polygon collection (that's where my pfp comes from) https://opensea.io/collection/cryptopiskelli

A few experiments later (one of which was gan.gg), I found out about Farcaster, DMd @dwr.eth on Twitter and the rest is history

Several good things happened since I joined Farcaster — I met a lot of people, some became friends, others clients — I got to work with @jrf, @rish, @kenny and others 🫔 — I got to make neynar.com (highlight of my professional year so far) And now I get to help grow this design channel Will do my level best

I am gathering ideas for curating & growing the channel, will post a few tomorrow. Something I look forward to is inviting some great web2 designers to Farcaster and getting some outside perspective on UX we take for granted, and more where that came from But for now I have only one more thing to say
