Experimenting using my eink android tablet (boox note air 4c) as a display for long-form writing (and eventually maybe coding). Using https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy for now. Mainly I want to avoid bringing a dedicated bluetooth keyboard if I already have my laptop with me anyway.

Fwiw almost every tablet has some kind of AI available, I don't super get the viwood pitch. Boox comes with a built in one too (openai rn), but it's android so can always install Claude/Gemini/etc apps too.

After looking at some of these, they're not actually what I had in mind My main interest is a physical voice-to-voice device made for talking to LLMs; the e-ink display is a nice-to-have feature

Could try a dedicated phone? Might like the aesthetics of this if you want e-ink (though not a full phone, no simcard): https://shop.boox.com/en-ca/products/palma I'd prototype it with a cheap/older phone if you have one lying around, see if it works how you imagine! I'm doing something similar, but mainly for a calm "no social media" device.
