The far-right AfD — already in second place after the election — is surging in polls to become Germany’s most popular party. The country’s security services are cracking down on then AfD as an extremist group, causing a fissure with the U.S. government. Now the would-be center-right chancellor just lost the vote for his job in a virtually unprecedented political shock. 

Things are not looking good for German democracy.

reframing a neglectful, tyrannical government faced with democratic comeuppance as

why not go heavier on "far-right extremist" epithets?

surely that moralizing will be relatable.

the party of love and acceptance, when citing a 1919 excuse to stomp down on leaflets opposing recruitment to The Great War

just to attack the "free marketplace of ideas" whenevew theiw feewings get huwt.

no, the claim being made is not onus on defending AfD

it is a priori awful "thumb on scale" that lapses on Golden Rule

if McCarthyism was still around and accused parties of communist anti-patriotic sedition, you'd be in the same boat.
