A social network like Farcaster is not merely the sum of the casts displayed on your screen or stored in hubs, and valuing a person's contribution to this network goes far beyond counting the likes or recasts they get. If a user figures out a way to speed up the network 10X, casts about it, and gets 3 likes, is their contribution to the network equivalent to that of an engagement farmer who gets the same number of likes? As long as we focus on engagement, instead of impact, we're not seeing the vast majority of actual contribution to the network, and thus not incentivizing quality contribution.
