Portrait of Gladys A series depicting 'ordinary' people who live their lives unnoticed, selflessly devoted to faith and service to others. It portrays domestic workers from affluent Cape Town suburbs, women who not only ease the lives of their employers but also continue their labor at home, taking on the roles of mothers, wives, and caregivers. Often unseen, they stand as the quiet pillars of their communities. 2019

Many Iranian households, particularly in urban areas and among affluent families, employ domestic workers. These individuals often come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and provide essential services like cleaning, cooking, and childcare. Until a few decades ago, these people were not foreigners. They came from lower and poorer classes because they didn't have any other skills or expertise, so they chose this job. However, in recent years, due to the increase in immigrants, especially Afghan immigrants, some of these people have taken on this job.
