I've been really enjoying 'A Distant Mirror.' Medieval times are fascinating on their own, but the eloquent writing in this book makes it even more captivating. What are you currently reading?

This book is so great! Her Guns of August about the start of WWI is also quite good. I’m reading Conundrums for the Long Week-End, about Dorothy Sayers and her writing

My last "full read" was "The Peace" by retired Canadian General Romeo Dallaire, who led the tiny UN force in Rwanda which tried (and failed) to stop the genocide there. This latest book talks about the factors he believes were responsible for that tragedy - and similar ones unfolding even now: 1. Disinterest 2. Self-interest 3. Ignorance 4. Fear 5. Othering 6. Hate 7. Revenge 8. Denial He then talks about the problems with truces, the military-industrial status quo, inequality (gender, wealth, education, etc) There's a lot in his book - I'm planning to write a proper review presently, and will be happy to let you know when it's available if you're interested!
