Collectors are willing to pay 3$ to mint your art but you only get 1$ from it I’ve “sold” more than 1k pieces on Zora. People spent 3000$ but i didnt even earn half of it.. Isnt the blockchain supposed to get rid of the middle man..?

Yeah alright, but my point is: Collector pays 3$ Creator gets 1$ Dont you think artists should get the majority of it..? After all, they’re doing all the work.. its their product thats getting sold.. its them who do all the promotion..

not necessarily, no. people are minting open editions for a variety of reasons but one big one is this system of protocol rewards. its spurred a flywheel of minting if artists are concerned with capturing more value per mint, they don't need to use zora or protocol rewards

Thank you for the explanations. So, Zora is not a marketplace for artists because we need more possibilities, such as selling 1/1 works that have been deleted. But the big problem is that there is no real marketplace for artists in this space with a frame as easy to use as Zora, maybe there's Highlight 🤷

zora is not really a marketplace at all, there is no secondary trading of nfts on zora as far as I know. It is a protocol for minting open editions, and the app is great for discovery. thing about 1/1s or collections priced higher is people don't really mint them apart from a few, super highly followed artists. its hard out there in NFT land. protocol rewards + OE has (miraculously) gotten people to keep minting

This is very true, in fact i believe all “non super highly followed” artists should focus on low prices open editions and slowly build their way up and start selling 1:1s Sometimes try the luck with the viral mint but most of the time they should focus on putting the bread on the table you know

i hope that as our space slowly grows, a broader collector base will appear but I worry about nfts in a post-speculative environment. many people got seduced by the economics of 2021-22 and those markets are probably gone forever which is part of why I defend zora's model, because its different

Totally agreeeee, those golden times will probably never come back And i always loved the Zora model too, but it always troubled me the fact that artists didnt get fully paid you know.. This convo with you changed my mind a little bit so i thank you for that. This is what positive and constructive conversations are for 1069 $DEGEN

appreciate you sharing your perspective here, and am definitely aware that as an artist the calculus is different! hope that zora will continue to explore how to make this system positive sum for minters, artists, platforms and referrers ❤️

Zora has allowed me to grow here, and I understand better now with your explanations. For my part, I have chosen several platforms to evolve: minting on Zora, sending to my subscribers on Hypersub, sending my 1/1 works from Foundation to my subscribers, and continuing to grow even in a difficult market. I think collectors are different now; they seek to support artists rather than resell their works for a profit.
