One dude is simultaneously spearheading efforts to: 1. Prevent space flight from being captured by crony capitalism 2. Electrify individual mobility 3. Keep internet speech censorship-resistant until crypto gets strong enough And you’re mad because he’s a troll?

Oh absolutely — we should be rooting for more people to do bold things But if they aren’t or are not able to, and systemic change takes time, why would you tear down the keystone?

The way I see it: I'm grateful that Elon accelerated the EV industry by probably 10+ years, but I'd also hate it if every car was a Tesla today. I'm grateful that Tesla is decreasingly relevant (not too dissimilar to being grateful that the Ethereum Foundation is decreasingly relevant). I see SpaceX as accelerating the industries it touches by 10+ years similarly, and I'm grateful for it... But part of me wishes SpaceX was starting to become less relevant, yet we're still far from that. I'm excited that Elon is experimenting with accelerating other industries too, with Boring and Neuralink. That said, I don't get the sense that what he's doing with X is a positive kind of acceleration. Feels more regressive, chaotic, egotistical. Maybe not entirely his fault, the entire social media industry is in a cursed local maxima that we're struggling to escape. Kinda feels like he's digging that hole deeper, sometimes.
