An emerging view I have is that secure self-custody is now a solved problem (no magical hardware needed), but the solutions just aren't evenly distributed. Secure dapp interactions, though, are a different ballgame.

Do you mean Chamber, or is there another solution you’re referring to?

Hah good question. I do think we have a novel solution that is highly secure, but lots of good ones out there. A single EOA created in a mobile wallet (rainbow Coinbase etc) can be incredibly secure if you put some self-imposed limits on it.
