Assets are now grouped by token instead of by chain. Instead of keeping a manual/offchain mapping, right now we're just grouping by token symbol (w/ some price filtering). It's not perfect but should work for 90%+ of tokens, and the others we can handle on a case-by-case basis.

Great decision For long-tail tokens, it's low ROI anyway, and you can reliably know what is the "canonical" asset representing USDC, USDT, etc on all of the blue chip chains

Yeah exactly. For a non-legit token to get grouped with legit ones, it would need to have enough volume for our pricing provider to register it. We'll cross that bridge if that becomes a problem. Definitely could've over engineered this - h/t @w for the quick thinking and @rooh for the speedy implementation.
