slice of life stories (like Reply 1988)

quality science fiction (like Asimov, Heinlein, Neal Stephenson)

character studies (like Halt and Catch Fire, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul)

Really do wonder if good stories can exist at the intersection of these three

I guess what I’m looking for is stories with enough breadth and depth.

Andor had a bit of family slice-of-life, but it also felt way too impersonal. 

Also the quality of SF writing in the Star Wars universe is just genuinely lacking. The universe looks richly diverse and lived-in, but it’s only skin-deep.

Not to mention it fails on character study. The character of Cassian Andor feels more like a video game NPC that you meet in a few cutscenes, rather than a living breathing protagonist.

So lots of missed opportunities there.

It feels like Pixar stories or anime series (like Attack on Titan or Vinland Saga) are prime candidates for this sort of storytelling. 

But they’re way too childish. I’m thinking *at least* Andor (17+) level of maturity, not stories written for 13-16yo.
