I recently listened to an interesting stream with @justindrake, @bankless, and @taikoxyz. From what I understood, maintaining based rollups requires constant subsidies until they achieve the necessary network effects.

But what if they never get there? Can’t we make a based zk rollup out of the OP stack, which already has network effects? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

It's not expensive considering the quality of the material and the chance to thank Bankless for tons of free educational resources. My main concern is that Taiko spends a lot of money to buy block space on L1 and blobs, even if there's minimal activity on Taiko. This isn't a sustainable long-term model.

Agreed, a flaw in Taiko's design they need to fix. Not an inherent issue with based rollups though
