Gm! Thanks for doing this. What’s your take on on-chain lending protocols as a source for “real” yield? Are there DeFi use cases that excite you at all?

Not sure I understand the question. What’s is real yield?

I guess I used it wrong but I meant “real” in terms of lending protocols servicing real world financing needs as supposed to slightly degenerate yield from temporary financing needs of speculations or via clever staking means. The yield in my q would be traditional and cumulative of interest and other typical fees.

Hypothetically, I can imagine a lending protocol that funds invoices between a buyer and seller. The seller gets immediate working capital and the buyer can pay upon the successful delivery of goods. The protocol charges fees for the service that is shared as yield for the depositors.

I don’t see DeFi interacting with the analog world anytime soon. Cryptonative and internet native use cases for a long time.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing your view. If I may, what might make your reading/thinking change about the timing? I learned about centrifuge's and goldfinch's work on this and am kinda excited by the potential wrt crossborder trade finance notwithstanding the technical and broader regulatory challenges…
