My general career advice for people in their 20s

- Figure out what you want to be when you grow up

- If that's too hard, figure out where you want to be in 5 years

- Work backwards from there, what's the best next move that gets you closer to that goal

- Optimize for 1 thing at a time; optimizing for multiple things usually leads to worse near-term decisions

- Avoid side quests rationalizing the optionality or ability to return the main quest later

Roughly the same, but I find people in their 30s already know what they are optimizing for.

Also much starker divide between people who work to live vs. live to work (and that's OK!).

I'm not there yet, but I would imagine something like this, but my sense is people in their 40s are even more focused on what's important in life vs. chasing silly stuff

Many forty-year-olds already have children about 18-20 years old, I would say if I were them, listen to @dwr.eth he says the right things and don't make my mistakes 😝
