Farcaster solves the fundamental problem with the Fediverse. It uses the blockchain for global, tamper-resistant state. That was the issue that bedeviled Mastodon. Servers could fake everything, even user counts. They had no mechanism for decentralized consensus. https://twitter.com/balajis/status/1154461575656308737
