The first big Twitter growth moment was in 2007 at SXSW. "The company set up two 60-inch plasma screens in the convention center’s hallways on which it streamed live tweets, and attendees quickly used the service to communicate with each other" They went from 20k --> 60k tweets / day over the weekend.

I've been on 'TwiX' since June 2007. I remember attending the 'Reboot' conference in Kopenhagen around that time, and people were posting on both Twitter and Jaiku (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaiku). Current Warpcast has the same vibe as Twitter back than, but 1 year of Warpcast has literally earned me more already.

I signed up for Twitter in December 2006, but I actually used it for something more than tests in April 2007 during the Microsoft MIX 2007 in Las Vegas. I remember bumping into Ev during the event, back then he was known for Blogger and Odeo, not Twitter.
