It’s been 21 days without alcohol for me. Not planning to get totally sober but wanted to take a little break for physical and mental health reasons. They say a habit forms in 21 days. Not sure about habits but I feel totally fine not drinking for another 10 days since that was my original goal. I must say, however, that going out and not having a drink is hard as hell, especially if you suffer from social anxiety. It is still doable though if you minimize some social overly extraverted interactions.

Way to stick with it! Similar boat. I’ve found it beneficial to spend time in different settings where drinking isn’t the primary focus. Has led me to spend more time with different people too - folks with common hobbies/interests vs. drinking buddies. 331 $degen

My issue is I have pretty bad social anxiety in unknown environments, and alcohol really helps with that. You wouldn’t guess by my personality but I’m actually very uncomfortable and awkward in large groups of strangers. Liquid courage has been my crutch for many years.

Sounds like you and my wife have a similar experience. I get so much energy from being in groups of strangers that I wish I could share some. Liquid courage only impacts the topics.

I can be more extraverted in certain situations but crowds of ppl I may not be interested in are not my thing
