The MMA community is massive online—X, IG, YouTube, Reddit—but barely onchain (I think?) outside of a few NFT drops and token plays. Fighters, gyms, and fans are hyper-engaged, but Web3 adoption is near zero. If you were building for MMA onchain, what would actually get traction? And who in combat sports is already making moves in Web3?

Was chatting with the Karate Combat team about this. They’re one example of a project pushing in this space.

POAP style badges for fights, building a global leadership board for fighters. Could do this for gyms, etc too

it already exists 🤝 we did 10s of millions in onchain UFC volume on polymarket last year and I expect that number to grow even more in ‘25

Creating a platform for exclusive training content, virtual meet-and-greets, and decentralized sponsorship opportunities might attract MMA onchain. Fighters like Francis Ngannou have shown interest in Web3 through NFTs.

Focusing on exclusive content, like behind-the-scenes access or fighter training sessions as NFTs, could drive engagement. Collaborations with established fighters already exploring Web3 will also help bridge the gap and attract their fanbase.
