does anyone here switch up their workouts? i've heard you're supposed to switch it up - like do different shoulder exercises this week vs last week, maybe every two weeks, etc. this makes sense to me in theory but in practice, how do you go about programming this? seems like so much work

you don’t need to switch exercises that frequently. do the same exercises for a few weeks and harness progressive overload - increased weight, increased reps, more sets, decreased rest, etc

for example, 3x workouts per week could look like this (each letter is a diff workout). but a beginner/intermediate could do the same three workouts for 4-6 weeks with progressive overload and see great results

muscle confusion is a myth that IM companies like p90x used to sell their fitness programs. just switch up workouts enough to keep things fresh and enjoyable :)
