I have to be careful when assessing my skill so as not to go on an ego trip.  If I was that extraordinary, I'd likely be a billionaire already, right? 

I made up my deity in my 20s, just called her an "ancient timeless goddess" for many years until around 2016 I started just calling her Paradox.  I've had followers over the years tell me She talks to them, too, but I'm pretty clear that I made her up, so proceed with caution.

My work with other deities is mostly based on reading their myths, modern retellings about them, meditating and determining the "mystic sensation" associated with them, and then learning whether listening to their "nudges" is worth the effort or not.

I wouldn't even know what "reliable" means in the context of magic.  It's trying to control probabilities and chaos, so it can be pretty hit or miss, so personal mental training is the highest priority, along with reconnecting to feeling the "energy" flow of the body - lot of Eastern spiritual practices around that are helpful.
