As a medical student, I see AGI as a game-changer, especially in healthcare, but weโre still far from true autonomy. Current AI excels at data analysis and pattern recognition but lacks critical thinking, intuition, and ethical reasoningโqualities essential in medicine and beyond. Challenges like common sense reasoning, self-learning without human input, and safety concerns still need to be solved. Future breakthroughs in neurosymbolic AI, self-supervised learning, and advanced computing could push us closer, but real AGI isnโt just about intelligenceโitโs about trust, ethics, and ensuring AI aligns with human needs, especially in sensitive fields like medicine. 2 replies
