Question for the experienced runners here: I ran my first sub 2:00 half marathon in March and finished my first marathon in 5:00 a week ago (trained for 4:20 - 4:30 pace but bonked hard). I have 5 months to my next marathon, is sub 4:00 a realistic goal?

Hey, the fact that it’s half the distance increases your odds by a lot! A few questions: what’s your weekly mileage like? Do you do intervals? Are you willing to progressively increase your weekly mileage over the next months? 5 months gives you a decent amount of time to progress

Weekly mileage was averaging 30ish for the last 6 weeks of the training plan, lower before that. I am doing intervals 1x week plus 1x tempo, 2x easy, 1x long run. I am definitely down to increase my mileage over the coming months!

Those are some really good foundations! Have you been injury free up to now? If you have, progressively increasing the mileage in your easy runs could be a good start. It’s super super important not to increase volume too fast though
