in a the fragmented industry that is web3, i actually disagree with adopting the “one thing well” position because its creates more fragmentation. People need composability which means you can just execute on your one part of the system

I think the challenge with onboarding normies is that there is just way too much to learn. There are too many concepts to understand to use crypto safely. 

I casted before that I got a hotel in Panama to accept crypto for the first time. I set them up with Coinbase wallet and sent the money there. USDC on base. Pretty easy.

But then how can they off-ramp? So we needed to setup a Coinbase account where they could add their bank, kyc, and off-ramp. 

It got really confusing explaining the difference between a wallet + key vs their Coinbase account + password. 

They still haven’t even added their bank because it requires 2FA- but there isn’t service here. So they have to leave to go into town to find service just to get their SMS code to initially login to Coinbase.

So then I explained passkeys can help with that. 

Besides even setting up a wallet and an off ramp mechanism, they asked how can they accept more crypto in the future. I had to explain Stablecoins…

https://warpcast.com/pfista/0x3cea6436 i think is a prime example. someone may build the best onramp, but it is an extra step someone else has to take to understand if it connects to their wallet on a network where their app interfaces. fragmentation is killing us.

100% agree. the standard of ease everyone is used to with web2 has to matched for web3 before we can real adoption both for devs and consumers. 

its not a not so sexy place to be building

We need to bring Customer-centric design into blockchain. There will be tradeoffs and we need composability in UX. Some folks want to control their keys and data, the majority of people do not. 

Its one of the main reasons BlueSky dropped its blockchain component.
