Having a hard time writing an update: Hopped over to Switzerland for UCI Alpine Gravel challenge with the hope to qualify for the world championships this October. Was going well at the very start and hanging with some people way above my level, but an accidental slide out sent my butt to the deck, and my day to a different direction. Gritted my teeth and caught up all day. Came up short, P26/70 and only top 19 qualified. Given my travel + work schedule, showing up on the start line with a descent enough shape would’ve been a win. There is another qualification event in two weeks in Girona - my mind and my body both say “take a chill pill my buddy”. Also have to thank my amazing girlfriend Vivian who ran up and down the mountain all day to give me support.

well done for even making it to the startline placing in that position with a set back is an incredible achievement! take some time to process, i understand how disappointing it feels to not achieve your goal due to things out of your control but you really did well all things considered!!

Thank you!!! That’s the *optimistic* take to things! It’s also worth noting that fitness vs racing is very different. It takes time to ramp up to races (feel and experiences are critical in higher level races like this)
