i feel like the type of humour on it is very different to typical us comedy in movies or shows

i studied politics and my dissertation was about how humour increases political participation so this is a really interesting observation!!!

i might watch some old clips to compare!

it is very different than normal comedy. I think it stems from how the show started in the 1970s as more like a place for stand-up comedians to explore a sketch show. so that’s a little bit challenging in the US but of course they had some of the greatest talents that we’ve ever had over the years which made the show great. I feel like it’s lost its way in the last 10 or 15 years. Like a lot of Hollywood it’s become a pulpit for political or social activism, rather than simply being a commentary on culture if that makes sense.
