On the occasion of Juneteenth in the US, I'm sharing this potent handwritten note by Frederick Douglass (1895) 

Douglass was an African-American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. After escaping from slavery, he became a national leader, gaining note for his dazzling oratory and antislavery writings.
