important to balance out (older) theory imo w/ contemporary literature. need pulse points to bounce off... theory is a nice place to (imagine) living, but then there's the rest...

definitely! and I def don't balance out with enough novels, which is why i often feel like my brain doesn't get a rest 😂 even when i'm reading, which is supposedly a 'leisure' activity, i feel like i'm putting my mind to work ahaha. need to cut through that with some fiction that i can immerse myself in and whiz through more often.

ya, i read theory almost exclusively for a decade..? (why, oh, why is a different question, lol, i think i was trying to break my brain). it was fine, and i balanced it at the time w/ art exhibits and film, but there's a way after a bit it all just blends into the stream of ideas and at some point something starts to shout: ok, so wtf do i DO w/ all of this?!?!? b/c ofc we need to do...

yes this!!! definitely feel like my brain is just a pool of disparate ideas atm. i get really excited by an idea when i'm reading about it, but then move onto the next book and that idea and excitement is replacement. that means the ideas or projects i have in mind also are replaced and it's constant learning and no 'doing' as you say :'-)
