A week after not knowing what DEGEN was and never having posted on Warpcast, today I claimed my first season of “tips.” Thank you for everyone who welcomed me and shared tips. This is a novel type of interaction on social media that has been built into the platform and I believe it serves a positive role in creating “thicker” connections between users. This is important for maintaining a positive platform culture that is resilient and doesn’t devolve into open conflict like some others. I am someone with a reasonable degree of familiarity with crypto and was able to figure out how to claim the tips after about half an hour of playing around with it. I believe the learning curve may still be a little high for a newly onboarded user not previously familiar with MetaMask, Ethereum, linking wallets and similar concepts. Having read up a bit I see that the integration is new and I’m confident the developers will take more steps to create a seamless experience for new users in a future mass onboarding.

Love seeing you explore farcaster and share your experience and thoughts, and I seem to pick up on your natural curiosity and optimism. One point to note about degen is how separate and decoupled it is from “the platform” or what we typically think of as a platform. Being a protocol on crypto rails provides for people to contribute to the “platform” in an entirely permissionless way. Frames, cast actions, and composer actions are all ways non-warpcast developers can enhance the overall experience for everyone. The more devs building things, the more experiments we run, the more shots on goal, the more likely we can build something novel and fundamentally different than the web2 platforms
