This is a bad chart. A lot goes into inflation. Who knows what countries are on the far left of it. As for the g8 if the US inflates everyone inflated at least at our level since we set the prices. So maybe if we were closer to where France was the entire chart would be lower.

I agree, it's definitely a confusing chart. It would be helpful to have more context on what countries are being compared.
