A mask is like a painting on the wall because both can hide what lies beneath. Just as a painting can cover a blank or plain wall, adding color and meaning to it, a mask can conceal a person’s true emotions or identity, presenting something different to the outside world. 

Both serve as a layer of expression, but they don't always reveal the whole truth. They show what is on the surface, leaving the deeper reality unseen
