# Real world crypto
Southeast Asia is the fastest growing region for crypto. I enjoyed learning from new friends from /bangkok and /vietnam. One thing that @juandav.eth shared with me is how the opportunities across /latam, /africa, and /sea have many similarities.

Edge City

@edgecity is the only place an indie researcher can learn about decentralized stablecoins from @vitalik.eth and one of the largest  stablecoin providers from the Circle team in the same room.

Access to digital dollars globally is the most widely used case. Learning from top builders was incredible. Circle shared the latest in US dollar backed stablecoin technology and @vitalik.eth covered more decentralized ETH backed stablecoins like RAI.

Out of the many non-financial uses self owned messaging is 1 of the most important. We launched a group chat experiment with ~30 people using @converseapp where people own their ID, messaging, and assets across the many apps that use open source @xmtp protocol for messaging.

This is important because most of the crypto industry is still dependent on Telegram which has had a history of false advertising being fully open source and secure. This creates a harmful and sometimes dangerous impact for users.

@cointracker is one of the most powerful tools for tracking crypto.

I fixed 246 items that were disconnected to file my taxes! I'm looking forward to continue automating more.

Favorite CoinTracker features
- Clearly visualize inflow/outflow(s)
- Wallet balance view for each transaction
- Filters can be bookmarked in the browser to quickly reopen
- Auto tax calculation updates
- Ethereum L2 ecosystems, staking, etc.

I also appreciate that there have been no issues causing me to start over like with other tools when there were backend updates. The CoinTracker team is a part of the crypto communities they are building for as they are actively engaged in listening and building improvements quickly. 🙏🏻

awesome turnout for the first farcaster meetup in /danang  /vietnam  with @so @harrytrananh @slapscher @adamhurwitz.eth and we got fireworks from the host!! 🎆

The coolest part of local @warpcast channels was meeting people in real life from @farcaster like @so and @johanna in /chiangmai who then started the /danang community I visited last week which is a great mix of nomads and local builders. 🏝️

# Wellness
I focused on being more social, developing better sleep strategies, exploring regular hot|cold exposure, and helping others by sharing ways to strengthen the gut biome and immune system that have worked well for me and were useful to many who ran into their own issues.

## Being social
Prior to @edgecity I was working 7 days a week on projects I enjoyed and I was not very social. My favorite part of Edge City was hours each week of unplanned conversations, follow-ups, and "doing nothing" together with thoughtful, interesting, and high performers from all kinds of backgrounds.

Being social is a muscle that needs to be trained and exercised. Endurance is essential for back-to-back large events. I learned to recharge before events by walking with music or meditating. I drank green tea or cacao during events instead of alcohol to feel good for the next one.

Remembering names is hard for me so from the start I tested keeping a file adding people's names as I met them and a few words to remember them by in my brain. 

My list reached 95 people and anecdotally I had ~80% success rate saying hello to people by their names.

I need to upgrade my plain Markdown file on my computer to @fileverse so that I can access the list across all devices and own the data with my @safe and @ensdomains crypto account.

The cofounder of @edgecity, Janine Leger, reminded everyone of JOMO, the joy of missing out, and focusing on 1 to a few things that are important.

This was useful for me after quickly being overwhelmed with the decision fatigue of dozens of great events every day. JOMO will continue to be a useful tool.

In the future I'd think about working on only 1 work project instead of multiple, or taking a total vacation for X weeks.

This way I can better take advantage of the opportunity to get to know more people and more in-depth by being spontaneous saying yes to fun activities.

## Sleep
Most of my life sleep has been a struggle so going into the cacao ceremony I focused on journaling ways to develop better strategies.

The highest grade cacao and holotropic breathing exercises in a welcoming space created an intense physical "buzzing" sensation. I realized I can focus on "slowing down" as a good thing in the evening and making incremental lasting improvements instead of everything at once.

We were given red light glasses I started using and having nutrient rich cacao, especially magnesium, in the evening to wind down.

## Hot|cold exposure
Having access to the sauna + cold plunge I did a week consistently with each. I enjoyed hot first, ending on cold for the full potential benefit of mental energy + less inflammation + higher metabolism.

Doing this with a group of people made it a lot of fun.

## Stomach + immune system health
I shared strategies with many to strengthen or recover their health
- Local produce and especially papaya seeds for gut biome
- Kimchi for probiotics and zinc supplements to strengthen immune system
- Gargling with ≤3% hydrogen peroxide
- Etc.

## Natural smelling supplements
I want to figure out how to recreate these travel natural ingredient smelling supplements once back in the US. 

It could be a good way to experiment with refocusing when working instead of fidgeting or opening up a distracting feed to scroll.

# Final thought
It was inspiring to meet so many in crypto that I've looked up to and who ended up being the most humble people in person that think and speak simply and clearly.

I'm grateful I had the opportunity to be a part of @edgecity and thank you to everyone who made it happen. 🙏🏻🪷

I woke up this morning in Ping River and quickly realized that if I didn't leave my hotel this afternoon I might be stuck for a few days without electricity.

The front entrance was chest high water making it too hard to get out with personal items intact. Studying the surroundings paid off and I led all who were willing out the back alley using my shortcut discovered yesterday.

I really knew it was time to go when I saw Alt_Pingriver coworking evacuating. The good news is everything should drain out in a few days according to local news reports and everything should be back and running.
