I went on a bit of a side quest thanks to @nocrimez.eth suggestion to explore Ungoogled Chromium. It's relevant because /brave has great feature for crypto like direct USB-C connections for device accounts.

However it's important to know if Chromium based browsers can be fully independent of Google which is what it seems Ungoogled Chromium has done if their claim is true.

My takeaway from this is that Rabby now has Firefox support, which is great newd.

Pretty sure they depend on Google to maintain the quality of Chromium. For a true open source alternative I have high hopes for  https://ladybird.org/ and their web engine. Early days but they are moving fast

Getting apps to build for their version of extensions/add-ons will be hard. 

Everything else like bookmarks should be easy to import which is the most important part of a browser to quickly open views from the address bar and use custom search engines with shortcuts like you can do in Firefox.
