With how many web apps you can run from /brave on your phone like X, YouTube, Todoist, etc. without the Google Play store it'd be great to be able to download Brave itself from an open source like F-Droid or side load it from brave[dot]com. 🦁🌐

This gives users more options, security, and allows people to protect their privacy from Google's tracking.

How about @brave for YouTube without ads?

Not sure why Proton is avoiding us lately (Vivaldi lol). I’m a ProtonMail user. Better not be a “US executive branch is being mean to Europe” reaction — that has nothing to do with us and is no reason to compromise on privacy-by-default.

Thanks! Based on the detailed feedback in the thread I'll look further into the GrapheneOS approach which has the added benefit of keeping Brave updated automatically.

yes on GOS you can have your playstore user for installation and updating and another non-google user for main usage
