Another great example of why you shouldn't trust orgs that promise decentralization but don't deliver it. Nothing like building a community on an "open" platform, only to get rugged and not even be able to export your data, more less your social graph.

You either start decentralized, or you get led on until events like this happen. If one was inclined they can scrape their data from whatever visible tables there are. Hopefully someone spreads the word.

Yeah, but it's tricky because what's decentralized? It's all on a spectrum. Starting too decentralized dooms you to fail as well! We've learned that the hard way over the last 5 years. There's so many long tail risks of unseen centralization that it's impossible to be guaranteed no single points of failure.

Definitely a challenge given there's no one-size-fits-all solution for every product or service. To your point, its on a spectrum. Not sure if anything other than hot air was provided to show progress on the decentralized front, but if there's long gaps of silence or an over promising of things with nothing to show then there's a high chance you're being strung along.
