It costs so little to keep an old UI trucking. Devs love to be authoritative, even when they work in spaces about freedom. Sometimes you get away with it, sometimes you churn; either way why take the chance? One of the coolest bits of crypto to me was the idea we could craft various UIs for the same underlying protocol. PoolTogether and Liquity have embraced this. You also have mega interfaces like DefiSaver or Contango, stacking on top of defi protocols. This remains niche in prod. But perhaps AI will bring the concept to fruition in a few years. As we see current models already oneshotting decent web designs, it doesn't seem so outlandish to me to imagine we could have protocols/websites that just describe their intent clearly, and a LLM builds you an interface for it based on your prompt for style.

A few thoughts: -LLMs building front ends already exist. I'm sure it will only proliferate as the time goes forward. -Various UIs for the same protocol has also happened here with Farcaster, as there are a few clients that take an alternate approach to presenting you whats on the protocol (i.e @recaster-fc). However, Warpcast is still the most popular one by far. -What devs (and by extension all people) say they believe in and what they actually do are usually in conflict with each other. We're all susceptible to change, but not everyone is honest with themselves about it, which can come across as hypocritical. At the end of the day actions will always speak louder than words.
