it is getting worse i feel in my part of dc. wen i go into mcdonalds it's a ton of homeless people and smells like piss. same at starbucks. half of them are crack addicts, adn they have a home they stay in at night, but it forces them out during the day... so they just sit outside, buy crack, go to mcdonalds and sleep. i don't know what the solution is, but i know the homeless people themselves are not going to figure it out.

In Salt Lake City the state just gave people homes. Not sure about the exact details. Also apparently the people you see on the street are often just the tip of the iceberg. There are even more people who have places to stay but are technically homeless, as in they don't have a permanent residence. This makes everything challenging because there are many things that require you have an official residence.

I think there are deeper-rooted issues that lead people into homelessness that if solved, would fix the homelessness issue - biggest one being addiction.

By treating housing as a right not an investment

it's a lot of people they could find some way to help them contribute to society. i feel the same a/b prisons. it's labor not being utilized in a good way.

redefine human worth, rebuild community. dont think can happen in the US tho, its antithetical to the ethos

reward function is broken to some degree-- to another degree it's not something everyone wants fixed-- and to some degree compassion

subsidize construction & reform code, mostly.

there's probably something to be said about mundane improvements to labor crunch / disengaged population. things like bringing back shop class.
