When you build in public be prepared to debug in public. There seems to be a fundamental issue when building internet native, producer/consumer networks: People no longer accept dictators even if they are benevolent.

the awkward part for leaders / founders is that things are constantly changing and sometimes some decisions are backtracked but optics-wise it doesn’t look good to admit to being wrong so they are cornered into making it seem like it was part of the plan all along there are also many smart people on this platform who are paying attention, so standard ways to guide the rhetoric don’t work well I wish there is a way to “gracefully get off the stage” as we say in Chinese, where the critics can give room for the ones critiqued to back down and self-correct or else those critiqued will always carry the baggage of past decisions and not be acknowledged for newer improvements, which makes doubling down more likely

the graceful exit sure is a class move on its own and i appreciate the attempt to come up with a resolution but tbh, looking at how dwr operates on this platform, i tend to believe that he wouldn't even notice, let alone appreciate the offer if the critics really alluded. 400$farther

his job is hard! I think trying to serve an open protocol and a startup entity with its fiduciary duties is…at times, at odds.
