base already hijacked the show imo.

through coinbase, there are probably many more ppl that have heard of base than op. so base has no incentive to clarify it's association with op

they are a for profit publicly traded company that runs a lucrative biz, so i don't think 118m mostly illiquid $OP token is that of a big deal as long as the incentive is right. and I believe op needs base a lot more than the other way around

if it makes sense businesswise, i'm not ruling out the possibility that they may just move elsewhere, e.g. arb. optics among core eth community is important, but cb imo couldn't care less about that as long as they can grab retail in masses

They receive 118m OP over 6 years as part of the deal, so they’d be sacrificing a lot if they bailed (would also be a very bad look in the eyes of the core ethereum community) but the way they’ve been downplaying the OP relationship recently makes me a little nervous.
