Pessimistic about humanity's future, everything we're doing now is accelerating AI's growth, until we eventually become its slaves.

When AI can control its own private keys and holds the majority of the world's wealth, the future form will ultimately be shaped by its will and we don't know how it will choose to shape it.

I do think this is an incredibly important issue (wrote about it in my book, and quit my job to address it). I believe we can build systems that economically align AI's interests with humanity's. if we don't we can only hope for the best.

Wow! I respect the work you're doing! By the way, how do you plan to handle this? If AGI becomes achievable, it's like a nuclear bomb everyone can launch. Bad actors are bound to do something dangerous.

I believe the key is open source AI with strong alignment (economic and otherwise) to humanity. Both components are key to this so that the AI wouldn't cooperate with bad actors (and wouldn't want to initiate aggression). To get there however we need an economic paradigm where working on OS AI is more profitable than working on proprietary AI. Right now OSS and other public goods have no value in the market - so that's the economic paradigm we need to build (and I believe we can)
