It still had that Wingspan vibe to it - including the beautiful artwork obviously! 

Game mechanics wise, Wyrmspan adds some pretty significant depth to the Wingspan playstyle. There is a new system for resources (RIP to the Hopper), and the games core actions (entice excavate explore) feel like a nice evolution.

One missing detail that was a little disappointing was a lack of lore. I wasn't completely surprised, as it would have been a big endeavour to write that much fiction, but I wish the dragons had dragon facts! Part of the fun of Wingspan is reading an insane amount of bird facts.

With the changes, it definitely felt more complicated at first. I knew how I expected some mechanics to work and had to realize and accept it was different. 

The table had a fairly novice boardgame player that happily kicked my ass, so I don't think the deeper play made it any less accessible of a game
