unpopular opinion - with the direction we’re heading right now towards memecoin summer, it feels too reminiscent of 2022 (I’m taking your definition of 2022 at face value)

i think one thing that differentiates memecoins from 2022 ponzis is it's pretty much fully retail driven, so there's unlikely to be huge institutional blowups like in 2022. but i do think stuff like these presale rugs etc are not a great look for regulatory eyes

and regulatory seems to care more about retail than institutional - or at least that’s their mandate.

so mostly i question if is actually moving “the space” “forward”

yeah, there are interesting ones and i’m not trying to throw out the baby with the bath water.

just acknowledging that not all “onchain activity” is net positive imo, and unf the loudest things travel the fastest so it may be prudent to be careful of what we help grow

yeah it's fairly complicated i guess. on one end, stuff like the racist solana memecoins, is straight up a setback and a bad look for the industry

but then stuff like $degen or /higher (biased to both tbf) i think are leveraging tokens as primitives to create new onchain behaviors. imo that pushes things forward
