published a proposal with @derekgtaylor to build a Nounish coffee shop in LA 🌴 TLDR: - buy and rebrand a shop - give out free coffee at Noun O’Clock - proliferate ⌐◨-◨ https://nouns.wtf/candidates/0x9097cdff0329382df4a17e86195cc664385656cb-a-nounish-coffee-shop--a-los-angeles-irl-to-url-nounish-experience

I am obviously a 'HELL ‘YEAH’ for Nouns IRL physical stores and genuinely welcome more to join us. Unfortunately, I don't believe the DAO should normalise the full purchase of the proposer's business.

I can certainly acknowledge the ($) value brought from - the team, the location, and the concept - LOVE IT!! But I don't believe that ($) value equals the full value of purchasing this business (300K) in this case + ongoing revenue generated.

i say all of this just to provide context. i totally understand your perspective and, like i said, know this is sort of uncharted territory for what a Nouns proposal may look like. thank you for your thoughtful feedback and i'm going to send you a DM! (5/5)

…and neither of us take the idea of running a shop that is the primary form of employment for staff lightly. beyond that, this is definitely an opportunity cost / labor of love. we believe that creating a physical space for Nouns and proliferating the idea of a community-owned brand is extremely important (4/x)

regarding risk, i would say that derek and i are both putting up substantial risk! the coffee shop itself has monthly fixed costs that we we're responsible for shouldering, including rent, staffing, utilities, insurance, being responsible for the supply chain of coffee and ingredients, etc (3/x)

i posted a response to the 150k staff/training in the replies to this post. i would definitely say the economics of a coffee shop in LA raise the price in comparison to what you may experience, and stand by the fact that i think this is actually probably a low number (2/x) : https://warpcast.com/nounishprof/0x48baf8e8

appreciate the thoughtful response! i totally understand the uncharted territory that this prop represents, but if the goal of nouns is to proliferate, why would businesses run by people who want to do so excluded? i'd argue that this is a better setup than a proposal that creates a one-time event or product (1/x)
