Nouners of Farcaster, are you forking? Why or why not?

I own 2 Nouns & am considering forking 1. Bought the 1st bc I always thought the concept was great & wanted to join. 2nd was pure speculation viewing it as high beta ETH. Avg price = 33.5E. I'm considering selling 1 to derisk as I still don't have a clear understanding of where Nouns are headed from here. Thoughts?

I think the short term financial incentive is skewed towards forking. Of course that isn't the only thing to consider. I don't want to give advice on which to choose, but here is a good thought experiment - if forking was the default option, would you opt out of the fork? There is your answer.

Good thought experiment here to switch the default state. Honestly the thing keeping me from ditching both is finally being able to engage w others in the Noun community here on farcaster. The DAO forum has seemed like a ghost town ever since I joined.

Yeah, I feel like the community has spread out too thin after the Discord disband. We need canonical comms

Maybe Farcaster is a solution?

Could be so. But we need a client focused on more dense discussion. Wonder if it has support for nested replies like Reddit. Would be the best format IMO

I think @4156 doesn’t want an official anything. I’m happy to improve channels to make it more useful for Nouners (and everyone else in the process).

What @4156 wants shouldn't be gospel. Getting rid of the "official" Discord wasn't a great move after all. It added overhead to keep up with nounish stuff and I believe many dropped off. I know I did. Especially after I stopped using XTwitter much.

every form of centralization creates a gain in efficiency, but that’s not why we’re here. strongly agree with your first point tho

I definitely agree with the principles behind closing the Discord. I did then and I do now. It affected my engagement though. I was hoping projects like Nouns Atlas and others would help. I moved most of my activity to FC and although other nounish folks joined most dropped off.

I'd argue it's not about efficiency, but more about cohesion and alignment. Game theory shows us that tiny failures in communication deeply affect the kinds of players in the game. No organism can thrive without centralized components, as they also afford synergy. Just gotta avoid the kinds that create asymmetry

Understood on staying true to the ethos of decentralization but as a new member of the community it seems like Nouns needs leadership at the moment. As leadership requires strong lines of comms, how do you overcome this issue? Now would seem like a great time to invest in ways to foster dialogue, no?
