My hometown is near the place that's called Olonets plain. Geese have chosen this plain for their largest in Europe spring stopping place when they move further North to their breeding grounds.

In the period of mass arrival over 110,000 birds a day may sometimes be recorded in the fields around Olonets. This is a picture i took last year on May 6, geese were vigilant as those were the last flocks arriving, and it was hard to get close to them, so the picture isn't perfect, but you can see the amount.
