What is Superchain? Superchain is a collective network of blockchain platforms built to make crypto easier, faster, and cheaper. It includes multiple chains, with Base and Optimism leading the charge. Whatโ€™s layer 2? A Layer 2 (L2) is a blockchain that sits on top of a Layer 1 (L1) blockchain (like Ethereum) to make transactions faster, cheaper, and more scalable while still benefiting from the security of the main chain. Let's say Ethereum is a highway that gets congested when too many cars (transactions) are on it. A Layer 2 is like a fast-moving toll lane that helps process transactions more efficiently, reducing traffic on the main highway. Layer 2s, like Optimism and Base, bundle multiple transactions together and send them to Ethereum in batches, cutting down costs and making apps run smoother.

Why Use the Superchain? - Lower Fees: Transactions on Layer 2 are significantly cheaper than Ethereum mainnet. - Faster Transactions: No more waiting for slow confirmations. - Shared Liquidity: Assets move smoothly across chains. - Optimistic Vision: Built with community-driven incentives like RetroPGF. Setting Up Your Wallet Install and create a new Wallet To interact with Base and Optimism, youโ€™ll need a Web3 wallet. Popular options include: - MetaMask (Chrome/Firefox extension & mobile app) - Rabby Wallet (great for multi-chain transactions) - Coinbase Wallet (user-friendly, works well with Base) - Rainbow (user-friendly, works well with Base & Optimism) In this guide, we will be making use of metamask chrome extension. Download metamask Chrome extension from Chrome Web Store https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/metamask/nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn - Create new wallet - Save your seed phrase OFFLINE - Write down recovery password - Verify seed phrase

Adding Base & Optimism Networks By default, Base & Optimism networks have been added. I deleted the base network and showed how to add any supported network manually. Follow the steps below: - Open MetaMask - Check top right corner - Click the drop down icon - Select โ€˜add a custom networkโ€™ - Input the provided details and save. E.g, Network Name: Base RPC URL: https://mainnet.base.org Chain ID: 8453 Currency: ETH Explorer: https://basescan.org - Go back to step 3, scroll up and select the newly added network. That is how to add custom network on metamask. Find attached video below for visual guide.
