First one I could find that wasn't the actual scientific journal but theres been tons of studys on this, and I don't necessarily disagree on the mass media point, however I think the Georgia tech/ uga study across 7 generations of white southerners and their changing speech patterns makes a much stronger case to actual culprit on the flattening of the accent
