btw there will be NO airdrop for hub operators whoever is farming farcaster airdrop by running a hub will get NOTHING you guys are destroying the network for everyone else, net negative behavior only run a hub if you need it and can afford it share it in your groupchat

why would you reward people who destroy the network? since friday most apps don’t work, warpcast / neynar / airstack spend resources on scaling the network to unreasonable numbers and this only encourages putting hubs behind staking or doing whitelists — both are a hit for a permissionless network the ecosystem will deal with this but this topic comes back at dev calls over and over again nobody sane would reward this behavior

The team has always said there won't be an airdrop and that the only incentive for running a hub is access to the data. People have always told them they would have an issue getting hubs to run but they have the opposite problem now, where so many poor hubs are cluttering the peer to peer network. It's very possible a staking fee or something along those lines will be required to stay on the network, or setup a scoring mechanism to cut poor hubs from the network

Let's be real here, there has to be a token and next to legitimate use on the user side they will also have to reward legitimate network participation. obv fake and low effort participation will be filtered out but still.
