I enjoyed Wicked but once again too much reliance on boilerplate CGI effects so it felt more like I was in a Marvel or Harry Potter movie than in Oz. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were great as was the Harry Connick Jr. himbo lookalike. The animals should have been animatronic puppets. Kristin Chenoweth!

I missed the steam punk set from the musical and would’ve loved to see that and more practical effects.

It seems like the “dancing through life” scene was their big practical effects challenge and it didn’t do much for me.
